Noroviruses are a group of viruses that cause the “stomach flu,” or gastroenteritis. Noroviruses are very contagious. They usually are found in contaminated food or drinks, but they also can live on surfaces or be spread through contact with an infected person.

Incubation Period | 12-48 hours |
Symptoms | Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, fever, and some headache. Diarrhea is more prevalent in adults and vomiting is more prevalent in children. |
Duration of Illness | 12-60 hours |
| What Do I Do? | Drink plenty of fluids and get rest. Avoid contact with other people and do not prepare food for others, since the virus is highly contagious. If you cannot drink enough fluids to prevent dehydration, call your doctor. |
