50 State Food Safety Twitter Tour

What does food safety look like in my state?

FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition set out on April 7th to answer just that question. We launched the 50 State Food Safety Twitter Tour to highlight the amazing food safety efforts acrosBlue license plate that says #50StateFS in white letterss each state.

Using #50StateFS, @FDAFood highlighted all 50 states every Tuesday – Thursday, April 7th – August 6th. The first state was Delaware and we ended with Hawaii, going in the order in which each state was added to the Union.

We asked each state Departments’ of Health and Agriculture to share their Twitter handles, along with links to their information on foodborne illnesses, food safety, and the Food Safety and Modernization Act. Over 160 #50StateFS tweets were shared over the tour’s four months.

“It’s been great to see the tweets and profiles of the other states.”

We shared details on how to submit food related complaints, food safety contact information, where to find food safety guidelines and regulations, trainings, and more.
